Adam graduated from the University of Manchester in 2012 with a B.Sc (Hons) in Zoology with Industrial experience. During this time, He spent a placement year working at the Ocean Sciences Centre, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Kurt Gamperl. While there, He worked on research into how temperature affects cardiovascular performance in fish.

He is now a BBSRC DTP student at the University of Manchester, studying for a multidisciplinary Ph.D., jointly supervised by Dr. Holly Shiels and Prof. Peter Gardner. Adam’s research aim is to gain insight into the process of cardiac remodeling at low temperatures in ectotherms. The Shiels group focuses on comparative cardiac physiology, where I am looking at the mechanical and electrophysiological properties of the heart. In the Gardner group, He is using infrared spectroscopy to analyse the molecular components of cardiac tissues and cells.
