Geraldine is originally from Belgium and moved to Preston to do her BSc (Hons) in Forensic Science at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) in 2005. She undertook an internship in the summer of 2008 at UCLAN under the supervision of Dr. Anna Stec. The aim of her project was to determine the toxicity of several polymers in the human respiratory tract using a tube furnace and GC-MS.

She joined the Gardner group in September 2008 and is doing a PhD involving the analysis of blood serum samples with FTIR spectroscopy to detect and diagnose prostate cancer.
